Many working mamas have asked us to offer some mama and baby classes on the weekends for them so here it is! Lizzy will offer her fabulous Mama and Baby Fitness class as a 3 week series. If you can’t make the whole thing you can just drop in to any one of the classes being offered. These weekend offerings are 90 minutes long instead of the hour classes during the week. Each portion of the class will be longer and give more time at the end for connecting and bring together. Here is the description:
Come connect to community and reclaim your body in this fun, challenging, and rejuvenating fitness class designed especially for mamas and their ‘wearable’ babies. Together, we will raise our heart rates, strengthen all major muscle groups, stretch, relax, and circle in this uplifting and inspiring class. Please wear fitness shoes and your favorite baby carrier and bring a water bottle and a few baby toys. We will spend the first 20 minutes wearing our babies for the aerobic portion of class and will then move to the floor for strengthening, stretching, relaxation, play and connection.

7 CE Hours  $140, save $20 if register for Rotator Cuff and Shoulder Girdle course at same time
In this class you will learn how to identify the tensional patterns and imbalances that tend to cause sciatica-like symptoms and learn how to treat them.  We will discuss the sideways tilt of the pelvis and the adductor-abductor relationship in sciatica-like symptoms.  During my 20 years of practice I have learned that most “sciatica” is actually false sciatica and not true nerve impingement at the spine.  You will learn how to address the adductors, abductors, hamstrings, and piriformis muscle.  All of my courses include practice in self treatment.

Join Bob Bauer and Jaime Moshe for an experience of healing and transformation as we share Kundalini Meditation and Gong Bath once a month at West Asheville Yoga. Each evening begins with some gentle Kundalini Yoga warm ups to open to body and loosen the spine to prepare for the energy of the gong and ease of sitting.
“The Gong is the first and the last instrument for the human mind. There is only one thing that can supersede and command the human mind–the sound of the Gong. It is the first sound in the universe, the sound that created this universe. It is the mind, the sound of the gong is like a mother and father that gave It birth. The mind has no power to resist a gong that is well played.”
Yogi Bhajan
Benefits of the Gong Sound Bath:
Creates a state of relaxation and release of tension
Stimulates the circulatory and glandular systems
Rebalances the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies

Chanting Saptah: Slow repetition of OM NAMAH SHIVAYA with Jojo Silverman

-

Chanting Saptah with Jojo Silverman
Date: Sunday, May 18
Time: 7:00-9pm
Cost: By donation, suggested $10-$20
Start your week off on a profound note! Join us for a wonderful evening of meditative chanting. Saptah is a slow, call and response chanting of the mantra Aum Namah Shivaya. Saptah means seven, and this chant is traditionally chanted for 7 days and 7 nights. The powerful hypnotic resonance of this chant can take us deep inside, calming the nervous system. Through the breathing pattern that this chant requires, and the soothing, a-rhythmic overtones of the instruments used, a slower, powerful, meditative field is created. No experience or skill is necessary to participate, and the chant is simple and easy to learn!
Participants may come and go at any time, but please move slowly and quietly with-in the space. Experiencing the full chanting session is recommended.
Donations will be received at the door. Thanks!

In this series, we will explore ease-full approaches to embodying mindfulness and illuminate the inherent transformative and healing qualities already present in the body through the practices of meditation and yoga. Each class will include a gentle yoga practice, a discussion, and time to practice meditation techniques. All levels of experience are encouraged and welcome.
