SOLD OUT Self Treatment for Headaches and Migraines: Trigger points, stretch, releaseDate: May 19, 2012 If you suffer from regular headaches, including migraines with or without aura and nausea, you will benefit greatly from this workshop. It has been shown that approximately 80-90% of all our chronic pain comes from an imbalance of tension in our soft tissues. Our muscles hold tension in the form of "trigger points" which are focal points of tension and which have redundant pain patterns from person to person. Cat has studied these pain referral patterns and how to successfully release trigger points over the last 20 years and is known as a local expert in the field. Realizing the key to success in ridding the body of these tensional patterns is informed self care, Cat has developed a protocol of self trigger point release and stretching for her massage therapy clients to follow on their own at home. The results have been astounding! Persons who have suffered with migraines for over 20 years have seen a complete, or near complete, eradication of their symptoms in a very short time. Chronic headaches have disappeared in as little as a week! During this workshop, Cat will explain the nature of trigger points, the most common trigger points for headaches and their pain referral patterns, teach you how to find and release them on your own, and then how to stretch the body to keep the new length in your muscles. You will learn the basic anatomy of the head and neck muscles. You will leave the workshop empowered with a step-by-step protocol to follow a few times a day at home. The work you do at home is key to the success of this practice. If you are ready to finally get rid of your headaches and know how to stop them from coming on in the future, sign up today! Cat Matlock, LMBT #1080, has been practicing therapeutic massage for 20 years. She has taught anatomy, kinesiology, and continuing education for massage therapists over the last 8 years. Cat is the founder of the West Asheville Yoga studio and the Bodhana Yoga School and runs her own massage therapy business, Freedom of Movement Bodyworks.
SOLD OUT Kwan Yin Invocation and Yoga NidraDate: May 20, 2012 As I have been clearing a difficult Kali energy that I picked up in India, the main deity of my practice, yet again, is Kwan Yin. It is the Grace of Compassion that allows me to move through the most difficult of times and Kwan Yin is the One I always turn to in my greatest need. She started coming to me years ago, about 20 years ago in fact, and time and again she has helped me find the goodness in my heart when my mind is filled with bad stuff. It seems appropriate at this time to honor her again as I set aside the Durga invocation for a later date. Come invoke Kwan Yin! Set your intentions to clear away old negative energies that clog your energy body and cause physical illness and awaken your deep compassionate heart. Here's the details: Yoga nidra is a deeply relaxing meditation in which you are guided into the state of consciousness where you are in between wakefulness and deep sleep. In this state you bring your intention of what you are creating, manifesting in your life over the next 6-12 months, into your subtle body channels and all of your physical being. In this special evening's practice, we enter this state with Kwan Yin (Guan Shi Yin, Guan Yin, etc). Kwan Yin is the original bodhisattva, one who vows to continue within the cycle of birth and death so that she can serve and guide others until there is no more suffering by any being. Her compassion is the highest! Evening begins with simple movement and asana for all levels of practitioner. We will then chant the mantra of Kwan Yin to welcome her into our beings. We proceed to then lie in savasana for the yoga nidra guided meditation, bringing you deeply into your consciousness to the place where you are most powerful in manifesting your desires. When here, you will state your sankalpa, or intention, into all your cells and subtle body channels. The evening concludes with a warm cloth annointed with special oil placed on your forehead while Cat sings to you. Cat spends long periods of time preparing the special oils and chanting mantras over the cloths used for the "picchu" warm cloth for the ending of the practice. This practice is deeply soothing, restoring, and a powerful magical tool for bringing the energies of the universe in alignment with your greatest intentions. It is an honor to share this with you. The nidra practices usually sell out ahead of time so pre-registration is highly recommended to reserve your space. Hari OM.
