“There is a light brighter than every sun, every star in the galaxy combined. That light lives in your own heart.” – paraphrased from Taittreya Upanishad
It’s back! Join Cat Matlock for a meditation journey to release what no longer serves and welcome the next Self into being. Together we will be invoking Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles, and asking for Grace as we cut ties that bind us and align more fully with our greater purpose.
This practice is for anyone who needs to pause, slow down their mind, and focus on their next steps with clarity and support. What are you releasing in the darkest night? What are you calling forth with the rising sun? Who are you meant to be and how are you meant to serve? How are you meant to enJOY?
We will gather around an altar to Ganesha. Participants are welcome to bring sacred items to place on the altar for the in-person event, or you are welcome to create a little altar at home if joining online. As we sink into the time of darkness, we call on Ganesha to illuminate the path ahead and ask for assistance as we clear our internal obstacles to shining our brilliant lights.
Cat will give some teaching about the chakras and the five elements to lay the foundation for the practice. We’ll take a few minutes to write out what we are burning away with the darkness, and what we are bringing to light in the next cycle. For the live participants, I offer to gather your writings and burn them in my Solstice fire in a bundle with prayers and mantras. You are also welcome to take yours home to your own fire.
Ganesha is said to stand at the threshold of each level of consciousness and awareness. OM GAM GANAPATIYEI NAMAHA! We will chant a mantra to welcome Ganesha energy into our circle as we write our fire offerings. Everyone will then lie down for the guided meditation practice, yoga nidra. We will dive into each energy center, connect to the element there, and speak our intentions into every chakra.
Come get a supercharged start to your next solar cycle and let’s create our best world together!
This event has been a favorite in many past years’ Winter Solstices, and Cat is thrilled to return to this practice this year.
